Gif Lovers Unite with this Amazing News

Sure this post probably doesn’t hold much relevance for businesses, but still – we all love a .gif and that is why they have become widely popular. They have become a staple of Twitter, Tumblr and more. They often capture a moment perfectly, but finding the exact right .gif isn’t easy.  Actually, let’s just clear up what a .gif even is!

Ummm, Wikipedia – what is a .gif?

‘The Graphics Interchange Format (GIF; /ˈdʒɪf/ or /ˈɡɪf/) is a bitmap image format that was introduced by CompuServe in 1987[1] and has since come into widespread usage on the World Wide Web due to its wide support and portability. The format supports up to 8 bits per pixel thus allowing a single image to reference a palette of up to 256 distinct colors. The colors are chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations and allows a separate palette of 256 colors for each frame. The color limitation makes the GIF format unsuitable for reproducing color photographs and other images with continuous color, but it is well-suited for simpler images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color.’

With us? No, me neither.  In a nutshell, it is basically a little graphic that is animated and usually only lasts a couple of seconds!

Anyway, back to the point!  A search engine has been produced that makes .gifs searchable – fantastic! We warn you though, it is extremely addictive – and you will inevitably find yourself falling into a spiral of .gif madness.
