In 2024, giving your customers a convenient way to buy your products is essential, and many brands are turning to TikTok Shop. TikTok, the world’s largest short-form video-sharing platform, naturally offers a massive audience. With millions of users daily, it provides brands with endless opportunities to sell their products directly through the app.
In this guide, you’ll discover simple steps and effective techniques for setting up and optimising your TikTok Shop to dominate sales.
How to Set Up a TikTok Shop
To create a TikTok Shop, the first step is to ensure you have a TikTok Business account. You can either convert an existing account or create one here.
Install the Right App for You
If you have a Shopify account, you can download the TikTok Shopify app to create video ads and manage your orders directly within Shopify. It integrates with TikTok Shopping and TikTok For Business Ads Manager, allowing you to track the results of your various campaigns.
For businesses with BigCommerce accounts, the TikTok for Business app is available for download. This app automatically installs the TikTok Pixel on your storefront, enabling you to easily track the results of your advertising campaigns.
You can choose to have customers complete their purchases within the TikTok app, or redirect them to your Shopify or BigCommerce account to finalise the transaction.
Optimise Your TikTok Shop for Maximum Sales
Much like on Instagram, your bio is going to be the first thing people see when they visit your page, so you need to make the most of it. Your bio is the first chance you have to introduce your brand and give potential customers information about your business.
Take a few moments to think about what you want your audience to know about your business. A good practice is to consider what keywords your ideal customers will be searching for, and making use of them in your bio.
For example, if you sell handmade crafts, there’s a good chance people searching for, well, “handmade crafts” on TikTok would have an interest in purchasing your products – so make sure to include that keyword in your bio.
Optimising your TikTok Shop Products
It’s important to optimize your shopping tab, which will act as your TikTok storefront, to create a positive experience for users. Use high-quality images and ensure that the style is consistent with your brand’s overall presence, both on TikTok and other platforms.
Additionally, there’s a 34-character limit for titles in TikTok Shops, which means you need to be strategic in how you label your products. Make sure you’re clearly labelling items with the right keywords, making sure to not include any filler/unnecessary words.
In the product descriptions, include as many details about the items as possible. Keep in mind that links in product descriptions on TikTok are not clickable, so it’s best to avoid them altogether.
We also recommend setting up a shop on Instagram too, to make sure you’re giving your customers plenty of ways to make a purchase.
Promoting your TIKTOK shop products
TikTok makes it easy to promote products by allowing you to embed them directly into your videos. When preparing a video, you’ll see the option to add a link under the caption. Select one of your existing products, customise the link text if needed, and your product will be embedded in the video. This seamless integration makes it easy for users to purchase directly.
