Around a month ago, the phone rang and it was the managing director (Lisa) of a company from China who we’d been speaking with about our social media management services. Happy with the proposal, we began to discuss the different elements of the package that she had selected and how it was going to help her business reach a Western audience. However, there was to be more to the conversation, and although we can’t go into these details at this point, we agreed to meet up to discuss an opportunity.
A week or so later, Lisa, Kane and I sat on Brighton seafront eating some awesome tapas and discussing the opportunity. We all hit if off instantly and quickly realised that a lot of Giraffe’s values and beliefs are mirrored within Lisa’s company. We agreed to get on the crazy train and see where this opportunity would take us; we wouldn’t have to wait long to find out. Lisa called me maybe a few days later suggesting that we sort out some flights and fly over to China to meet the team and get the ball rolling. How could we resist? We agreed and the madness began.
We have been working day and night in preparation for the trip, and that all began with booking our flights. We booked flights for this Sunday, that will see us fly from London to Amsterdam, then on to Beijing and finally finishing in Hangzhou, where Lisa’s company is based. On top of this, we’ve had to sort out our Visas by having an invitation letter sent to us from China, which we then had to send to the Chinese embassy in London. We’re glad to say that our Visas have now arrived and we’re all ready to go!
We fly first thing Sunday morning and will be updating you on the happenings of our trip when we get back the week after. Hopefully this is a very exciting and big step for Giraffe that could see us continue the rapid growth we’ve experienced in 2013.
