The Webby Awards are an annual award ceremony that rewards excellence on the internet. It is presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (catchy, right?!). The awards span the topics that you’d expect; best websites, best online advertising, best online films, etc. However, the way that winners are picked is pretty damn cool. In each category, there are two winners – the one selected by the IADAS (see above) and one voted for by the general public.
The award ceremony is often referred to as ‘The Oscars of the Internet’, since it is one of the longest standing internet award ceremonies, with the first Webby Awards dating back to 1995!
2013 winners included: Frank Ocean, Jerry Seinfeld and Kevin Spacey.
The full list of winners for 2013 can be found on the Webby website, go see if your favourite won. By the way, if you are wondering why there is a picture of some elaborate looking springs below…..they’re the trophies.
